It's time to say goodbye...

A few million, trillion years ago I started this here blog. I followed the rules and found myself a place in the blogosphere worthy of a couch potato with a fast disappearing waistline. I tapped away on the keyboard, ciggy in one hand, coffee in the other, eagerly splashing my life across t'internet. I only ever had one golden rule: Remember that my wee Scottish Granny reads every post and would clip my ear if I said anything too bad.

I waffled on about everything from face cream to mirrored Wham posters, Mary Poppins to Humpty Dumpty, the whole time my waistline bulged. I tried fattening up everyone around me and as that hasn't worked I figure it's time for a change. The hours put into this anonymous diary have to be put to something more 'real'.

The best thing to come from this blog is the fact that you all fell in love with my wee Scottish Granny. I fell in love with her all over again too. She is seriously the most amazing person in the entire world filled with all the fun and energy of ten people my age and an inspiration to everyone lucky enough to meet her.

In the beginning I begged for followers and comments, now there's too many to respond to. I've had lots of fun and a few outbursts. I outed myself and at times along the way upset and hurt the people closest to me. I have outgrown this space - in more ways than one.

It's time for me to wash off that face mask, get rid of the hair band and let my hair down for a while. It was so much fun while it lasted and maybe one day you'll see me disguised as another. Eternally Distracted is saying a final goodbye and so am I.

Thanks for everything,
Kerry

  1. Oh dear, this sounds so final.

But as they say, all good things must come to an end.

I rather hope my blog ends at my death, but that might be too ambitious and, like you, I might one day consider that enough is enough.

I seem to be among the first of what I imagine will be a long line farewell messages- mixed in with a few protests that you not leave us- to come.

But it is clear you have chosen to go, so go you must.

I wish you all the best for the 'real' future, Kerry. I have enjoyed our short time in each others ken on the blogosphere.

  3. I'm the lucky wee Scottish Granny who has you as a grand-daughter for which I say my thanks every day. You are the most wonderful, exciting, intelligent and loving person anyone could wish for as a grand-daughter. I am most thankful that the end of your blogging days certainly do not mean the end of our happy times together. I love you lots and lots. Gran xxx

  13. Endings are hard - but usually portend of a great new beginning - I am hoping that for you. You have entertained us and for that I am EG (eternally grateful).

Tell your wee gran hello from me every now and then. Give Max a bit of scrambled egg. Hug your little greek disaster. And smile.

Stop by my space every now and then and drop a line if you have the time. Life is short. Go grab some.

As much as everyone loves granny, I love you the most, and Mec and Max.
Nobody writes like you, well not in my little circle of friends, or makes me laugh like you, but I truly understand. Still want you to come and see what's going on in my PINK world though??? OK? I love the fact that you started calling me PINK... cause I know how much you love the signer : )

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oh Kerry
I am so sorry you are leaving BlogLand but I understand totally why. In a way blogging is a huge waste of time and we all feel like ditching it sometimes for the real world. Trouble is I don't much like a lot of things in the real world and that is why some of us blog where there are oodles of really nice people.

I am very fortunate that you agreed to be roasted and it was a very popular event.

Take care and it was a pleasure to 'know' you even though I was not able to visit regularly (the real world getting in the way again!).

We had a bit of fun which I enjoyed immensely.

I shall miss the pale faced lady, holding a gone off drink and eating slices of cucumber.

You will be missed enormously ~ Eddie x

  59. Wait no you can't leave us..we look forward to your granny stories and life....I just want to say that I support all people and because one is a lesbian makes them no less of a wonderful person that can change the world. You have given me so much happiness since I started reading your blog. Change can be long coming but anything worth while has a little bit of hurt along the way that is how we grow as a person. It is evident that you have a long warm following. We never know how we effect people along the blog journey. You are a wonderfully talented woman that has affected many live out there....letting people in is hard...but this community could never judge you for your sexual orientation. How ever your family handles you is not my business...but I have a son and if one day he came home and told me he was gay I would except him for he is like having my heart walk outside of my heart. I am sure that your family feels the same even though they may not be able to say it. While I was in nursing school, (and believe me no one thought I would ever get into nursing school) I had a quote on my mirror. It said, "The beauty belongs to thoughts that believe in their dreams" Elenore Roosevelt. She said she knew that she wasn't very pretty but she never let that get in the way...she married her 2nd cousin the president. Maybe you leave this form but you keep on writing the talent that you have should be shared with the world. We all bleed the same blood...take care you will be missed endlessly
    Amie
